Why I Started Salty Beard

I grew up exploring the Oslo Fjord — fishing with family, swimming between islands, and discovering quiet little spots that most visitors never get to see. After years of working in more traditional jobs, I realized something: what people wanted most when visiting Oslo wasn’t another big tourist attraction. They wanted to experience the fjord the way locals do — safely, personally, and without the crowds.

My name is Halfdan, and I’ll be your guide on the water. I’ve spent my entire life around the fjord and know its islands, inlets, and wildlife better than most people know their own neighborhoods. My approach is simple:
be friendly, be professional, and treat every group as if I’m taking close friends out for the day.
